Corporations and enterprises of the industry and trade ought to liaise with local authorities to increase information of saving energy, protecting environment and responding to climate change, the Ministry of Industry and Trade said in its dispatch to economic corporations and state enterprises about response to the worldwide Earth Hour movement 2019.

Specifically, to adopt measures for energy saving, these above-mentioned facilities should turn off non-essential electric lights and other devices in one hour on the evening of March 30 ( from 8.20 pm to 9.30 pm)

The Ministry requested State-owned power giant Vietnam Electricity (EVN) in cooperation with the MoIT's Energy Saving and Sustainable Development Department to organize the movement including power operation plans during the movement but still maintain power in important events to respond to the worldwide Earth Hour movement.

as schedule, the movement 2019 will be launched on March 30 in Hanoi’s Walking street Hoan Kiem with the message “ Energy saving- earth protection”.

Earth Hour is a worldwide movement organized by the World Wide Fund for Nature (WWF). The event is held annually encouraging individuals, communities, and businesses to turn off non-essential electric lights for one hour, from 8:30 to 9:30 pm on a specific day towards the end of March, as a symbol of commitment to the planet.

For years, the movement has been organized by the Ministry attracting participation of million of people in 63 cities and provinces countrywide. Last year, the movement participants saved 485,000 kWh valuing VND834 million ($35,862).
