During her journey to represent Vietnam at Miss International 2024, Thanh Thuy felt a wave of emotion upon seeing the Vietnamese flag raised by fans during her visit to Kaga, Japan.
The beauty queen was greeted with the red-and-yellow star flag at the Kaga City Hall, a sight that moved her to tears as she felt the genuine warmth of the welcome.
In a brief interview with a fan who captured the moment on video, Thanh Thuy shared that the most heartwarming experience in Japan so far was hearing locals say “xin chao” to her in Vietnamese.
These small but meaningful interactions made her feel closer to home, bringing her comfort and happiness despite the physical distance.
Viewers expressed empathy for Thanh Thuy’s emotional response, with some commenting that hearing a familiar voice amidst the pressures of competition can feel instantly soothing and energizing.
These touching moments, many fans said, undoubtedly provide Thanh Thuy with positive energy as she competes on the world stage.
In an earlier clip from behind the scenes of the national costume segment, Thanh Thuy was seen adjusting her sash when a fan greeted her in Vietnamese, prompting her to joyfully wave back.
Beyond pageant-related activities, Thanh Thuy has also embraced the opportunity to explore Japanese culture. Donning a traditional kimono, she enjoyed the chance to learn more about her host country’s customs.
In another event, Thanh Thuy spent time with local children, touched by their performances and the handmade cards they gifted her.
Reflecting on her time with the children, Thanh Thuy shared, “A child’s smile can brighten the darkest day and bring pure joy to our hearts.”
She also noted how these exchanges connect to the United Nations’ Sustainable Development Goals, particularly SDG 4 (Quality Education) and SDG 16 (Peace, Justice, and Strong Institutions).
According to the official schedule, the semifinal and final rounds of Miss International 2024 will be held on November 10 and 12.
