The event will witness the participation of more than 600 women of different ages. The parade will be choreographed and will feature performances of Non La (palm-leaf hat) dancing, fan dancing, and Ao Dai (Vietnamese traditional long dress).
The Ao Dai parade will be the highlight of the Hanoi Tourism Ao Dai Festival 2023 from October 27 to October 29.
At a press conference held on October 16, Nguyen Hong Minh, deputy director of the Hanoi Tourism Department, said the occasion aims to honour the traditional Ao Dai of the Vietnamese people, whilst also attracting more domestic and international tourists to Hanoi.
The event will also provide an opportunity for Ao Dai fashion designers, artisans from craft villages, and travel firms to work together in order to strengthen promotion, exchanges, and co-operation, he added.
The opening ceremony will be broadcast live on Hanoi Radio and Television on the evening of October 27 at the Ba Kieu Temple Flower Garden area, with the show presenting a combination of music, lights, and performances showcasing Ao Dai from the north, central, and south regions, including Hanoi, Hue, and Ho Chi Minh City.
During the course of the three-day festival, the organisers will arrange 60 booths on Dinh Tien Hoang and Le Thach streets aimed at introducing Ao Dai brands across the country to locals and tourists.
Furthermore, a music gala will be held on October 28 to bring a festive atmosphere to participants.
A photo exhibition on the Ao Dai and a forum on orientations and the development of Ao Dai within the community will get underway on October 29.
The Hanoi Tourism Ao Dai Festival was first held back in 2022 with the ultimate goal of recovering the capital’s tourism sector after being heavily impacted by the COVID-19 pandemic.
