Nearly two million mobile subscribers have switched to other mobile networks in the last two years under mobile number portability (MNP).
Preparation for 5G, MNP (mobile number portability) and elimination of ‘trash’ simcards were the most noteworthy events in 2019.
D. Tuan in Hanoi went to a post office recently to have his subscription switched from MobiFone to Viettel. After paying the fee of VND50,000, Tuan was told that he would be able to use the simcard provided by Viettel.

Though mobile network operators still keep reluctant with the MNP process, MIC has decided that subscribers would be able to shift to other networks while keeping their phone numbers from January 1, 2017.
The necessary things for the MNP plan would be ready no sooner than 2015.
