The appearance of ‘blockbuster’ mobile products adapted from PC games such as 3D Y Thien (Heaven Sword) and Vo Lam Truyen Ky (Swordman) Mobile have put a fresh spirit into the game market, which has been flooded with card games.

Amid the demand, some young game distributors such as Vega Game and Funtap have emerged as new faces with original products such as Chua Te Tay Du, Bay Vien Ngoc Rong (Dragon Ball – Vega Game) and 3D Phong Than (Funtap).

Meanwhile, the big players such as VNG and VTC Game still have cemented their positions in the PC game market segment with webgames, launching one game every two or three months.

VNG, the ‘big guy’ in the market, still holds the upper hand with a series of good swashbuckler games such as Thien Long Bat Bo Mobile (Demi-Gods and Semi-Devils), Cuu Am Chan Kinh Mobile (Age of Wushu Dynasty) and Vo Lam Truyen Ky (Swordman) Mobile.

The Vietnamese game market is showing a tendency to shift from playing online games on computers to mobile devices.
Meanwhile, VTC Mobile, with powerful financial capability, is going to launch a series of well-known products including Minh Chau Tam Quoc 2, Thien Thu Mobile and Mong Ba Vuong, while the two other names remain a secret.

The bustling market has also prompted the return of the old distributors such as VGG and VTC Online. Both of them are believed to have blockbuster products worth billions of dong which they will launch soon.

Opinions from well-informed circles said Vietnamese distributors are negotiating with partners to bring other blockbusters including Ngu Kiem Tinh Duyen (Love & Sword), Tru Tien (Celestial Destroyer) and Thanh Khau Ho Truyen Thuyet (Legend of the Qing Qiu Fox) to Vietnam. The price must not be lower than VND10 billion for every product.

Meanwhile, there are two names – Kiem The Mobile and 3D Cuu Am Chan Kinh -- which are also being hunted by Vietnamese distributors. Sources said that distributors must have at least $2 million (VND44 billion) to negotiate for the rights to distribute one of the two games in Vietnam.

Though the domestic game market has improved greatly, Vietnamese-made products are sill looking for clients.

Except giants such as VNG, VTC Game and veteran studios such as Hiker Games which make heavy investments, smaller studios tend to look for clients overseas.

CS Mobile and We Are Heroes (Joy Entertainment) are typical examples. Giang Ho Truyen Ky has closed after three months of presence in the market.
