The Prime Minister recently approved the use of electric four-wheel vehicles for tourism in the central province of Quang Nam and the southern province of Kien Giang.
The vehicles will be used in some areas of Hoi An town in Quang Nam and Phu Quoc island district in Kien Giang.
The People’s Committees of the two provinces will operate pilot
programmes in their localities, focusing on schedules, route maps, and
traffic safety.
A survey on the programme will be conducted six months after implementation.
The Ministry of Transport (MOT) is asked to work with the Ministry of Public Security in managing electric four-wheeler cars.
The MOT should estimate the demand for the cars and report to the Prime Minister within this month.
Hanoi, Nghe An, Thanh Hoa and Quang Binh provinces have been using
electric four-wheelers in a pilot programme, according to the MOT.
Some other cities and provinces such as Khanh Hoa, Hai Phong, Lao Cai
and Da Nang, besides Thua Thien-Hue and Ba Ria-Vung Tau have started
using the cars to transport tourists.
The cars are reportedly environmentally-friendly and make less noise than other vehicles.
