Captain Nguyen Quoc Khanh from the Vietnam Peacekeeping Centre has been assigned to join the UN mission in the Central African Republic.

The decision was presented by Deputy Chief of the General Staff of the Vietnam People’s Army (VPA) Pham Ngoc Minh on April 20.
On behalf of Defence Ministry leaders, Minh lauded Khanh’s performance and preparations for his upcoming assignment.
He urged Vietnamese officers on peacekeeping missions to strictly follow Vietnam’s policies on external relations, and regulations set by the VPA, the UN mission and the host country.
Vietnam officially joined the UN peacekeeping activities in 2014, it has sent 12 officers to UN peacekeeping operations in South Sudan and Central African Republic.
The country is actively preparing for the deployment of a second-level field hospital and a company of sappers, and focusing on training female and male soldiers to serve the UN peacekeeping missions in the coming time.
