Located on Road K10 in Cam Lam District, about 40 km from Nha Trang (roughly one hour by motorbike), the forest lies near several famous seaside resorts but had long gone unnoticed by tourists.
Photographer Nguyen Duc Hieu from Nha Trang discovered the site in early August when a friend brought him there. After just a few minutes’ walk, he felt transported into a deep forest, far from the city. The air was fresh, squirrels leapt from branch to branch, and sunlight pierced through the dense canopy, illuminating mossy ground and ferns in a scene both poetic and mysterious.
“This reminds me of the moss forests in Ta Xua (Lao Cai) or the Binh Chau – Phuoc Buu nature reserve near Ho Chi Minh City, but the difference is you don’t have to trek long distances here,” Hieu said.
Travel worker Pham Tuan Tu also explored the site recently. “The forest doesn’t have an exact address. It took me nearly two hours of searching before I found it. Even many locals didn’t know it existed. The best way is to head towards the area opposite Duyen Ha Resort,” Tu said.
Though the road is rough, filled with potholes and sandy patches, Tu felt it was worth the effort. “Honestly, it’s like stepping into a fairy tale. Truly an experience worth having,” he said.
The ideal times to visit are on sunny days between 8–9 a.m. or 2–3 p.m., when sunlight makes the forest glow more vividly.
While the forest is near a main road, visitors are advised to go in groups with a guide or local resident. “This is still an unofficial check-in spot, with no parking or services, so visitors must take care of their own belongings,” Hieu warned.
Visitors should also watch out for insects and snakes, and most importantly, avoid littering to protect the natural ecosystem.
Besides this hidden “fairy-tale forest,” Cam Lam also boasts pristine beaches with clear water, soft white sand, calm waves, and numerous resorts, making it a perfect destination for both relaxation and exploration.
