The Vietnamese motorbike market has seen slow sales over the recent period. Despite lower prices, motorbikes attracted fewer customers than before the Tet Holiday.

Motorbike market faces slow sales

According to agents of Honda, Yamaha, Suzuki and Vespa in HCM City, they have seen fewer customers despite wider availability of models.     

Pham Thanh Long, a representative from an imported motorbike shop on Ba Trieu Street, said his shop had sold around 10 motorbikes in the first two months of this year.

A staff member from a Honda agent in Hanoi said that prices of many Honda motorbike models have considerably fallen, but their sales remain slow.

The price of a Honda Winner 150 stands at VND5 million (USD227.20) lower than before the Tet Holiday. The price of a Honda Blade or Honda Future motorbikes stands at VND600,000-VND1 million lower than previously.

Suzuki Vietnam has launched a promotional programme to offer VND1.5 million in cash for customers who buy Suzuki GD 110 motorbikes.

Before the Tet Holiday, the demand for Honda SH motorbikes was very high in HCM City. Customers who wanted to buy this model had to register with the agents in advance.
