With 464 votes in favour from the 469 attending deputies, the National Assembly on Friday passed a resolution on the investment policy for a project to build the North-South Expressway’s Gia Nghĩa-Chơn Thành western section.
The section, spanning from Gia Nghĩa City in the Central Highlands province of Đắk Nông to Chơn Thành Town in the southern province of Bình Phước, has a total length of 128.8km and investment of VNĐ25.54 trillion (US$1 billion).
The project is scheduled to be under construction until 2026 and put into operation in 2027.
It aims to connect the Central Highlands and the southeastern regions, linking Bình Phước, Đắk Nông and other localities near HCM City.
It is expected to create a new development space and motivation for the two regions, along with optimising the regions’ potential in land use, tourism, processing and mining. — VNS
