National Assembly Chairwoman Nguyen Thi Kim Ngan (R) meets Deputy Speaker of the National Assembly of Hungary Gergely Gulyás in Hanoi on January 13
Vietnam always remembers the valuable and efficient assistance provided by the Hungarian people and State and follows with keen interest Hungary’s socio-economic development accomplishments and integration into the European Union, she said.
She stressed that the maintenance of delegations at all levels has created political trust and a strong driving force for the two countries to carry out cooperation across the board, with two-way trade value in 2016 rising 10 percent from 2015.
The Vietnamese leader took the occasion to thank Hungary for supporting Vietnam’s candidacy for seats at several UN agencies and affirmed Vietnam’s backing of Hungary’s bid to run for the UN Human Rights Council in the 2017-2019 term.
She expressed her hope that Hungary will push for the EU to early sign the EU-Vietnam Free Trade Agreement (EVFTA) and recognize Vietnam’s market economy status while facilitating Vietnamese products’ presence in the country.
Ngan said she is delighted at the outcomes of the talks between the Hungarian Deputy Speaker and Vice Chairman of the National Assembly Uong Chu Luu, including the organisation of seminars with the aim of helping the two countries’ legislators to exchange wide-ranging experience and issues relating to the respective countries’ socio-economic development.
She thanked the State, the Government, and the National Assembly for facilitating the Vietnamese community’s integration into the local society, and hoped the community will continue working to strengthen the traditional friendship and promote trade between the two countries.
She hoped that more Hungarian businesses will come to invest in Vietnam while asserting that Vietnam will serve as a bridge for Hungary to access the 600-million ASEAN market.
Deputy Speaker Gergely Gulyás, who is also Vice President of Fidesz-Hungarian Civic Alliance, gave high estimations to the growing socio-political ties of the two countries, especially the signing of a framework agreement on a 440 million EUR credit as it marked a new development in the bilateral economic cooperation.
Impressed with Vietnam’s socio-economic achievements, he affirmed that Hungary always wants to cooperate with Vietnam and considers the Southeast Asian country an important bridge in ASEAN.
Hungary will continue supporting Vietnam at international forums, he stated, delivering wishes that the two countries’ law-making bodies and their members will continue enhancing exchanges and sharing experience.
