The 13th National Assembly (NA) Standing Committee adopted two resolutions on standards and classification of administrative units and classification of urban areas at its one-day 48th session on May 25.

According to head of the NA’s Law Committee Phan Trung Ly, urban areas will be classified based on five criteria; including socio-economic development level, infrastructure and architectural landscape development, social infrastructure, essential technical infrastructure and environmental hygiene, and flood control and greenery.
The committee also heard a preliminary report by the National Election Council on the results of the election of deputies to the 14th National Assembly and all-level People’s Councils for the 2016-2021 tenure.
Earlier, the NA Standing Committee gave comments on reports on the supervision of the implementation of the national target programme on building new-style rural areas between 2010-2015 and policies and regulations on science-technology development in the period 2005-2015.
