During a reception in Hanoi on November 6 for deputy head of the Committee of the Defence of Revolution of Cuba (CDR) Orestes Llanes Mestre, Ty was updated about Cuba’s economic development models in education and health care.

He affirmed that the Vietnamese people always bear in mind material and spiritual support that the Party, State and people of Cuba provided for the country in the past national liberation.

Over the past nearly six decades, solidarity and comprehensive cooperation between the two nations have kept growing via the regular exchange of all-level delegations via the State, Party, National Assembly channels and between the two countries’ ministries, agencies and localities.

Ty wished that the two nations would offer mutual support at multilateral forums for the benefit of each country as well as for peace, stability and development in the region and the world.

The host suggested continuing to step up joint projects, especially in agriculture, medical products and services.

Conveying his sympathy for the Vietnamese people over serious losses caused by the recent flood, Mestre affirmed that the Party, State and people are ready to do its best to assist Vietnam.

He said the two countries hold huge potential of cooperation so that they need to enhance information sharing and boost links across bio-chemicals, sports, culture, national defence-security.

Meeting the Cuban guest, head of the Communist Party of Vietnam Central Committee’s Commission for Mass Mobilisation Truong Thi Mai said the signing of Memorandum of Understanding on cooperation between the CDR and the Vietnam Fatherland Front Central Committee will contribute to nurturing ties between the two nations.

Mestre also vowed to intensify Vietnam-Cuba special solidarity.

Man assured his guest that the Party, State and people of Vietnam are always grateful to support that the Party, State and people of Cuba have provided for Vietnam in the fight for national liberation in the past and the construction and development at present.

He said long-standing ties between the two Parties, States and peoples should be maintained in order to make practical and effective contributions to each country’s revolutionary cause.

The host expressed his belief that the visit will further deepen traditional solidarity and friendship between the two nations in the next context.

Mestre, for his part, said though facing disasters, the Party, State and people of Vietnam are always ready to assist Cuba. When Cuba suffered devastating consequences of storm Irma, Vietnam offered 1,000 tonnes of rice in relief to the country, which proves close-knit and sincere ties between the two sides.

Informing the host of the outcomes of his talks with VFFCC Vice President Truong Thi Ngoc Anh, Mestre said experience acquired at the talks will help the CDR improve its operating efficiency.

During talks earlier, both sides expressed their delight at achievements scored by the two countries, shared working experience and agreed on collaboration principles for the near future.
