Vice Chairman of the National Assembly Uong Chu Luu met with Speaker of the House of Representatives of Japan Tadamori Oshima and held talks with Vice President of Japan’s House of Councillors Akira Gunji on July 4 as part of his visit to the country.

Meeting with Tadamori Oshima, NA Vice Chairman Luu spoke highly of the Japanese lower house leader’s visit to Vietnam last May, saying the trip has significantly contributed to strengthening the extensive strategic relations between Vietnam and Japan.
He extended greetings of NA Chairwoman Nguyen Thi Kim Ngan to Tadamori Oshima and other members of the lower house.
For his part, Tadamori Oshima noted with pleasure the fruitful development of the Vietnam-Japan relationship, which has been shown through the exchange of visits by their high-ranking leaders since the beginning of this year.
The host said he hopes that the friendship between the two countries as well as the relationship between the Vietnamese NA and Japan’s House of Representatives will further advance.
During the talks with Akira Gunji, the Vietnamese legislator expressed his delight at the fine relationship between Vietnam and Japan.
Echoing Luu’s views, Akira Gunji said the bilateral cooperation is thriving in many aspects like the economy, politics and culture.
He described the visit to Vietnam by the Japanese Emperor and Empress in February 2017 as a symbol of the friendship.
Akira Gunji noted his hope that the Vietnamese legislature and Japan’s House of Councillors as well as the two countries’ parliamentarians will increase their exchange, looking towards the celebration of the 45th anniversary of bilateral diplomatic ties in 2018.
He highly valued the Vietnamese NA’s role as the Chair of the Asia-Pacific Parliamentary Forum (APPF) and the country’s hosting of the 26th APPF slated for January 2018.
Following the talks, NA Vice Chairman Luu and his entourage visited the headquarters of the House of Representatives and the House of Councillors, where they were briefed on the bodies’ operation.
