Located in the Gulf of Thailand, in Kien Giang province, Nam Du Island has become one of the most popular tourist attractions in recent years thanks to its romantic beaches and pristine beauty.
The island, which is also known as the second Ha Long Bay in the southern region, has 21 islets. Of which, 11 are inhabited, while the others remain completely untouched. From Rach Gia City, the Nam Du Islands can be reached only by speed boat. There are about three trips to the islands every day, leaving at 8:15 am and arriving at Chet Beach in Nam Du at 10:30 am. Cu Tron Islet is the most beautiful beach. Tourists can hire a motorbike to travel about and discover the fabulous scenery and life of the local people in An Son commune. The most ideal time to visit Nam Du is between December and March when the weather is excellent and the sea is calm. There are many other beautiful beaches on Nam Du Island including Dat Do, Gieng, and Ngu dotted with bent coconut tree silhouettes on the white sands. Don’t forget to make a stop at Hon Dau, which is covered with lush green forest. Travellers can also visit Hon Mau Islet, which takes only 20 minutes from Rach Gia by boat or they can go fishing and diving to contemplate the coral reefs on Bo Dap. |
