On April 6, National Assembly (NA) deputies discussed in groups the relieving of duty of the current Prime Minister as part of the agenda of the 13th legislature’s last meeting.

President Tran Dai Quang made a proposal of the removal to the NA, saying that Prime Minister Nguyen Tan Dung who was elected at the first session of the 13th NA has fulfilled his assigned tasks.
Due to the required Party and State high-profile personnel arrangements after the 12th National Party Congress, the President submitted the discharge to the NA for approval.
The same day, the NA will hear the NA Standing Committee’s report on the results of group discussions on the discharge of the PM.
Lawmakers will conduct a secret ballot on the relieving and the President will submit a nomination list for the new PM to the NA.
Deputy Prime Minister Nguyen Xuan Phuc will be nominated for the post of PM.
The NA is set to elect the new Prime Minister on April 7.
