The National Assembly’s Standing Committee has announced the upcoming session where three critical fields - healthcare, banking, and information technology -will be addressed by key Vietnamese ministers in a scheduled Q&A on November 11-12.
The healthcare segment will address issues such as mobilizing and ensuring the availability of healthcare staff, medicines, and medical supplies for citizens, particularly in post-disaster scenarios. Additional focus will be on the licensing and certification process within the medical profession, management of health supplements and cosmetics, and tackling violations. Efforts in the prevention of tobacco and drug abuse, especially in schools, will also be discussed.
The primary responder for this segment will be Minister of Health Dao Hong Lan. Deputy Prime Minister Le Thanh Long and other ministers, including those from Planning and Investment, Finance, Industry and Trade, Education and Training, and Defense, will provide supplementary answers as needed.
In the banking sector, the focus will be on monetary policies aimed at curbing inflation amidst global economic fluctuations. Key issues include government oversight in the gold and foreign exchange markets, as well as support measures such as reduced interest rates and access to loans for individuals and businesses recovering post-disaster.
Nguyen Thi Hong, Governor of the State Bank of Vietnam, will lead responses, with additional input from Deputy Prime Minister Ho Duc Phoc and ministers from Planning and Investment, Finance, Industry and Trade, and Agriculture.
The information and communications segment will cover strategies to improve the quality of the media sector amidst social media expansion, emphasizing the revolutionary role of journalism in Vietnam’s economic and social development. Additionally, policies on advertising regulation both in traditional and digital media and investment to improve telecommunications infrastructure in remote, rural, and ethnic minority areas will be discussed.
Minister of Information and Communications Nguyen Manh Hung will lead responses. Deputy Prime Minister Ho Duc Phoc, alongside ministers from Planning and Investment, Finance, Agriculture, Culture and Sports, Science and Technology, Public Security, and the Ethnic Affairs Committee, will also participate.
The session will conclude with Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh, or an authorized deputy, addressing Parliament on government operations and answering further questions from the assembly.
