The 14th National Assembly began question and answer (Q&A) sessions as part of its ongoing third meeting in Hanoi on June 13.

Minister of Agriculture and Rural Development Nguyen Xuan Cuong is first to field the questions on June 13, with questions set to focus on measures to restructure agriculture effectively, improve quality and competitiveness of products, protect and develop aquaculture resources and manage aquatic exploitation activities.

Minister of Culture, Sports and Tourism Nguyen Ngoc Thien is expected to detail management and licensing of art and culture activities, organisation of festivals, prevention of ethical degradation, preservation of cultural values and improvement of tourism planning.                     

Minister of Health Nguyen Thi Kim Tien is set to talk about measures to improve the efficiency of medical check-ups and treatment, along with State management of drug prices and provision at medical facilities and investment in grassroots healthcare to reduce overload at centrally-run hospitals.

Finally, Minister of Planning and Investment Nguyen Chi Dung will be present solutions to mobilise social resources for development investment, improve management to prevent wastefulness in public investment and clarify responsibilities of ministries and departments in implementing key national projects.

The Q&A sessions, which are scheduled to run until June 15, are broadcast live on channels of the Voice of Vietnam, Vietnam Television, National Assembly and the parliament’s website at www.quochoi.vn. 

Deputies vote for bills on SMEs support, foreign trade management

Deputies voted to adopt the draft law on support for small- and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs) and another on foreign trade management at the ongoing third session of the 14th National Assembly in Hanoi on July 12.

The National Assembly also passed a draft resolution on its supervision programme in 2018, and approved the revision and supplementation of the working agenda of its third sitting.

Lawmakers also discussed the State budget estimate 2015 and a draft resolution on the settlement of bad debts of credit organisations.

Also in the morning, Chairman of the Cuban National Assembly Esteban Lazo Hernandez delivered a speech at the plenary session of the third sitting of the 14th NA of Vietnam.

On June 13, deputies will hear a report on the inspection of handling voters’ petitions sent to the second meeting of the 14th legislature, and conduct a Question-and-Answer (Q&A) session that will be broadcast live on Vietnam Television and Voice of Vietnam channels.
