The National Cyber Security Center and global cybersecurity company Kaspersky Lab have signed a memorandum of understanding to address information security challenges in the country and help the Government build cybersecurity capacity.

NCSC has performed the function of ensuring the safety of information systems belonging to individuals, businesses and the Government and managing information databases and technical systems to ensure network security for the Government and law enforcement agencies.
Maxim Frolov, vice president of global sales at Kaspersky, said: “Joint effort is the best way to fight cybercriminals who act regardless of physical borders and territories.

In the fourth quarter of last year 992,952 online attacks originated from Viet Nam, based on Kaspersky data, making the country a major global source of threat.
In terms of online attacks, 21.5 per cent of users in the country faced threats. Based on real-time detections reported by Kaspersky, Viet Nam is always among three most infected countries.
The agreement, which coincides with the passage of the Law on Cyber Security, aims to enhance capacity development and institution building in cybersecurity to ensure public safety and security. — VNS
