On December 31, the Ministry of Culture, Sports, and Tourism, in collaboration with the People's Committee of Thua Thien Hue Province, held a press conference to announce the 2025 National Tourism Year and Hue Festival.

A national and international cultural highlight

The 2025 National Tourism Year – Hue is a landmark event combining cultural, economic, social, and tourism initiatives on both a national and international scale.

It coincides with the 50th anniversary of the liberation of Thua Thien Hue Province and celebrates Hue's elevation to a centrally governed city.

This marks the second time Hue will host the National Tourism Year.

During the press conference, Nguyen Trung Khanh, Director General of the Vietnam National Administration of Tourism, emphasized Hue's strategic importance.

Positioned within the central economic hub and serving as a gateway on the East-West Economic Corridor, Hue plays a pivotal role in the "Central Heritage Road" tourism route.

These advantages make the city a favored destination for both domestic and international travelers.

In 2024, Hue welcomed over 3.9 million visitors, reflecting a nearly 22% increase compared to 2023.

This included 1.45 million international arrivals, a 17% rise year-over-year, and 2.5 million domestic visitors, marking a 25% increase.

Tourism revenues in 2024 reached an estimated 7.9 trillion VND (approximately $324 million), up nearly 20% from the previous year.

Highlights of the 2025 program

The 2025 National Tourism Year and Hue Festival will feature four seasonal themes: "Spring in the Ancient Capital," "Summer Radiance at the Citadel," "Hue in Autumn," and "Winter in Hue."

Together, these themes encompass over 170 events at both national and provincial levels.

With such diverse programming, Hue aims to attract between 4.8 and 5 million visitors in 2025, with international tourists accounting for 38–40% of total arrivals.

The projected revenues of over 11 trillion VND will significantly boost the province's economy.

The event is expected to catalyze socio-economic growth, enhance tourism investment, and inspire the development of innovative and attractive tourism products.

These efforts will contribute to Hue's long-term economic and social advancement.
