The reviewed period saw Vietnam experience 27 downpours, flash floods, and landslides; 148 storms, lightning strikes, and hailstorms; two severe cold spells, along with hundreds of mild earthquakes and landslides.

As of July 5, natural disasters had killed 49 and caused property damage worth an estimated VND308 billion.

Vietnam is forecast to face fewer storms and tropical depressions this year in comparison to previous years, according to the Vietnam Meteorological and Hydrological Administration.

The coming months will see more storms and tropical depressions likely to form in the East Sea, which may duly affect the northern and north-central regions.

Localities are urged to evacuate people to safe areas, and to proactively adopt measures in response to heavy downpours, flash floods, landslides, and other abnormal weather phenomena.
