Le Duan street pavement (District 1) is paved with granite.

Chairman Tran The Thuan of District 1 said the plan would be submitted to the HCM City People’s Committee for approval and implementation.

"This is the proposal of a number of businesses as well as the people in District 1 to make the streets nicer. Enterprises are willing to invest in the project in advance, with 0% interest rate and the District authorities will pay in 3-5 years," Thuan said.

Thuan said the district would use granite that is similar to the material used to pave Nguyen Hue pedestrian street.

He added that of the total 134 roads in the district, 80 roads will have the new pavements first.

In the second quarter of 2016,  the first five streets will be paved with granite, including Nguyen Thi Minh Khai, Nguyen Thai Hoc, Phung Khac Khoan, Dong Khoi and Cong Xa Paris.

The project will last for three years, from 2016 to 2019.

District 1 has 936,000 m2 of pavement of 134 streets. Apart from a very few roads that have been renovated, the remaining pavements are in poor condition.
