Following a stellar performance at the 33rd SEA Games, where she claimed three gold medals and broke a regional record, Nguyen Thi Oanh will join fellow Vietnamese track stars at the Vietnam International Half Marathon 2026 (VIHM), taking place in the early hours of January 1 in Hanoi.

On December 31, the Vietnam Athletics Federation, in collaboration with the Hanoi People’s Committee, held a press conference to announce the event - officially titled VIHM powered by Herbalife.

The race will feature nearly 7,000 runners across three distances: 21km, 10km, and 5km. A significant number of elite and national team athletes will compete in the professional category.

Among the most anticipated names is Nguyen Thi Oanh, who swept gold in the 5,000m, 10,000m, and 3,000m steeplechase at the SEA Games, setting a new record in one of the events.

Other top athletes confirmed for the race include Nguyen Trung Cuong, Le Tien Long, Luong Duc Phuoc, Doan Thu Hang, and Bui Thu Ha.

The total prize pool for the 2026 Vietnam International Half Marathon stands at nearly 600 million VND (approximately $24,700).

In the elite division, first-place winners will receive 10 million VND (around $410). An additional 50 million VND (over $2,050) will be awarded to any athlete who breaks a national record.
