On December 16, Vietnam had already shown strong acceleration in the overall medal standings, adding 9 golds, 8 silvers, and 10 bronzes.
This impressive performance came across several disciplines, with athletics remaining the strongest contributor.
Nguyen Thi Oanh capped off a successful SEA Games campaign with gold in the 3,000m steeplechase.
Vietnam also secured convincing wins in women’s high jump, long jump, and the 4x400m relay.
At the same time, women’s rowing, kickboxing, mixed tug-of-war, and women’s Arena of Valor (Liên Quân Mobile) all struck gold - reflecting the country’s balanced strength across both traditional and emerging sports.
Silver medals in men’s rowing, weightlifting, kickboxing, chess, and various track-and-field events show Vietnam’s consistent presence in medal contention across the board.
It was a successful day overall, boosting morale and momentum as Vietnam enters the final phase of SEA Games 33.
