Yen Lap is a mountainous district of Phu Tho province, where the ethnic minority community accounts for over 80% of the total population. Yen Lap is also one of the districts in Phu Tho that benefits from Stated-funded policies, programs and projects associated with poverty reduction.
In recent years, the district has focused its investment in the Sustainable Poverty Reduction Program, building infrastructure works for communes, villages, especially difficult villages and safe zone communes, using funding from the National Target Program for Socio-Economic Development in Ethnic Minority and Mountainous Areas.
In particular, reciprocal capital from local sources has been invested in supporting production development, diversifying livelihoods and replicating poverty reduction models. As a results, the district's poverty rate decreased to 7.5%, an average annual reduction of over 3.4%, exceeding the target set by the Resolution of the 23rd District Party Congress. Many communes and residential areas meet new rural standards.
In 2022, the district's poverty rate reduced by 2.5%, contributing significantly to the overall achievements in rapid and sustainable poverty reduction of Phu Tho province.
2023 is the third year Yen Lap district implements the public investment plan for the period 2021-2025. The goal is to quickly complete key projects and the national target program on socio-economic development in ethnic minority and mountainous areas.
Accordingly, Yen Lap district will focus on implementing the following 4 projects:
The first project is to invest in planning, arranging, and stabilizing population in necessary places in Luong Son commune.
The second project is renovating and upgrading rural roads in the communes of Trung Son, Minh Hoa, and Ngoc Dong.
The third project is to develop education and training, invest in the construction of Trung Son Secondary Boarding School for Ethnic Minorities.
The fourth project is to preserve and promote the traditional cultural values of ethnic minorities in association with tourism development in Minh Hoa commune, a typical tourist destination associated with the development of Ga Gay sticky rice cultivation of Muong people in My Lung commune.
According to Yen Lap district, to implement the National Target Programs for the period 2021-2025, the district has proactively implemented related projects to ensure progress and efficiency. The total capital allocated from the central government to implement the National Target Program over the period is over 302.5 billion VND.
