On December 9, 2024, Dinh Viet Thang submitted a request to the Ministry of Transport to retire early due to health reasons.
The ministry carefully reviewed and approved his request following the standard procedure.
The current leadership of the CAAV includes Uong Viet Dung as Director General, with Do Hong Cam and Ho Minh Tan serving as Deputy Directors General.
Born in 1983, Uong Viet Dung holds a degree in Aircraft Engineering from the Saint Petersburg State University of Civil Aviation in Russia.
He also has a bachelor's degree in Corporate Finance from the National Economics University and a master’s degree in Human Resource Management, alongside advanced political theory qualifications.
Before his appointment as Director General of the CAAV, Dung served as the Chief of Staff at the Ministry of Transport and concurrently as the Head of the Department and Chief of the Party Committee Office.
His prior roles include Deputy Chief of the National Traffic Safety Committee Office (2014–2019) and Deputy Chief of the Ministry of Transport’s Office in charge of communications (2019–2022).
Dung also accumulated nearly a decade of experience at the Aircraft Engineering Company of Vietnam Airlines Corporation.
