During the course of the final session of the 14th legislature, law makers are scheduled to finalise 25 State titles, including dismissing State President Nguyen Phu Trong, NA Chairwoman Nguyen Thi Kim Ngan, Prime Minister Nguyen Xuan Phuc, and electing others to these positions.

During the last two working days of the week, the NA will remove PM Phuc and State President Trong from their posts.

Moving forward, April 2 will see the NA Standing Committee submit a list of nominees in order for the NA to elect the State President, with the results being announced on the morning of April 5, after which the new State President will then take the oath and be sworn into office.

After subsequently being elected, the President will then submit a list of nominations for the NA to elect the new PM, who will then be sworn in on the same afternoon.

The State President will submit to the NA to dismiss Vice President Dang Thi Ngoc Thinh and elect another person to hold this position.

The NA Standing Committee will relieve from their duties and elect a number of members to the NA Standing Committee, along with the chairpersons of a number of the NA Committees, the NA General Secretary, and the State Auditor General.

During the course of a meeting on March 29 as part of the ongoing 11th NA session, law makers spent time to scrutinize the State President and the Government’s reports regarding their performance during the 2016 to 2021 tenure.

During final session of the 14th legislature, law makers are set to leave the posts from State President Nguyen Phu Trong, NA Chairwoman Nguyen Thi Kim Ngan, Prime Minister Nguyen Xuan Phuc, and elect others to these positions.

This comes as State President Trong delivered a report on the performance of the President in 2016 to 2021 period, adding that the State leader’s performance outcomes have made numerous important contributions to bringing into play patriotic tradition, along with the will and strength of the great national solidarity. This is in addition to stepping up the building of a pure and strong Party and political system whilst continuing to comprehensively and uniformly promote “Doi moi” (Renewal), effectively dealing with national issues and pressing problems in society, and improving the lives of citizens. Other issues involved boosting judicial and administrative reforms, reinforcing defence and security capacity to protect the country’s independence, sovereignty, unity, territorial integrity, and maritime sovereignty, along with fostering foreign relations, international integration, and stature in the region and the wider world.

The Government’s report on the five-year performance noted that efforts have been made to closely follow the Party and the NA’s resolutions and developments through the motto of being “a development-facilitating and incorruptible Government that acts drastically to serve the people”. Indeed, the Government and the PM have focused on directing all-level authorities and sectors to take drastic and effective actions to carry out the tasks and solutions and achieve the targets in all areas. They have also incentivized the engagement of the entire political system, as well as the solidarity and joint efforts of the whole Party, people, army, and wider business community.

The Government has paid due attention to fine-tuning mechanisms and policies as a means of creating breakthroughs in development, along with making exerted efforts to tackles difficulties and obstacles facing people and enterprises to create an optimal business climate. This has thereby promoted socio-economic development in the short term whilst providing a foundation for fast and sustainable development in the long run.

Most notably, the report says that amid the developments of the COVID-19 pandemic, the entire Party, all people, and the army have stayed unanimous and determined to meet the twin targets of effectively fighting against the outbreak, initiate recovery efforts, and spur socio-economic development.
