The 40th Southeast Asia Shooting Championships wrapped up in Hanoi on November 11, with hosts Vietnam claiming the top spot and a total of 31 records set, including fifteen in the youth event.
Organisers present medals to the winners at the event.
Taking place from November 1-11 at the National Sports Training Centre in Hanoi, the tournament saw the participation of nearly 300 athletes and coaches from nine countries and territories in the region and on the continent, including Singapore, Thailand, Indonesia, Malaysia, Macau (China), Hong Kong (China), Chinese Taipei, the Republic of Korea and hosts Vietnam, competing in 36 categories of the competition.
Vietnam finished first for the national team event with thirteen golds, ten silvers and five bronzes, followed by Indonesia with nine golds, four silvers and two bronzes, Malaysia with four golds and six silvers and Singapore with three golds, four silvers and two bronzes.
In the youth event for youth teams, hosts Vietnam also proved their strength by taking the championship title, winning a total of ten gold, seven silver and three bronze medals. Indonesia came in second with three gold, four silver and two bronze medals, followed by Malaysia with three golds and two silvers.
The competition is among the most prestigious tournaments in Southeast Asian shooting. In the tournament, Vietnam’s shooting talent continues to affirm its leading position on the regional arena.
