According to the National Center for Meteorological Forecasting (NCHMF), on the morning of August 5, a tropical depression was formed in southeast East Sea, about 400 km to the east of Song Tu Tay island (Truong Sa Archipelago), with the winds at level 6 (maximum 49 km per hour).
The depression is moving at the speed of 15 km per hour in the direction between west northwest and northwest and it may get stronger.
On the morning of August 6, the tropical depression will be about 200 km west of Song Tu Tay Island, one level stronger.
The depression has caused strong winds in the middle and south of the East Sea (including the northeast waters of Truong Sa Islands). Due to the southwest monsoon, the waters from Binh Thuan to Ca Mau and the southern part of the East Sea (including Truong Sa) will have winds at level 5 and strong thunderstorms.
Just two days ago, storm Jebi, the fifth storm in the East Sea, landed in Quang Ninh. At least six people were killed as a result of storm and flooding.
The National Center for Meteorological Forecasting said that from now until the end of 2013, there will be 7-8 storms and tropical depressions in the East Sea, half of them will affect Vietnam.
