The total land area affected is 750,296 square meters. The residential area is located in the region which is close to Thang Long Highway in the north, the administrative region in the east, the Nhue River in the south, and the 21.25m wide highway in the west.

The functional area of Nam Thang Long urbanization is designed as a U-shape toward the north and is surrounded by a greenbelt.

The shorter buildings (4-5 floors) are located in the south and west. The space is organized similar to a chess-board, with the architectural design of a garden city with tree-lined streets and a canal system linked to the river to create a transition between the spaces of the residential landscape with the Nhue River.

The higher buildings (35-39 floors) will be located in the eastern area. The space is organized in a straight north-south line for 500m. The modern high-rise buildings are laid out in an east-west direction and they are associated with the administrative area and the lake.

The community areas will include the public buildings, schools and recreation spaces. Previously, the Hanoi People’s Committee also issued a decision adjusting the planning for the urban area in Thuy Khue ward, Tay Ho district. Part of the area will be changed from land use for the authorities to a mixture of commercial services and hotels.

The total land area affected is 967.1 sq m, of which 17.4 sq m is for road planning and 949.7 sq meters for construction. The plan aims to create additional land to meet the demand for commercial services in Tay Ho district as well as the areas for sightseeing and tourism around West Lake.

In addition, Prime Minister Nguyen Xuan Phuc released a national land use rights plan for all cities and provinces, the Ministry of National Defense, and the Ministry of Public Security. He also allocated land in Hanoi for urban planning to 2020, which includes 174,429 ha of agricultural land, 159,716 ha of non-agricultural land and 63,468 ha of urban land.

Hanoi, meanwhile, is planning to carry out the inspection and handling of land management and use at all levels from 2016 to 2020. Inspection and handling violations regarding land management and use will be reported annually to the City People’s Committee by departments and people’s committees in every district, commune and ward.

The inspection is within a scheme to “Strengthen the Handling of Violations in Land Management and Use to 2020” by the Prime Minister. The objective is to implement solutions to overcome difficulties, improve detection of and resolve all violations in land management and use, bolster the effectiveness of land laws and prevent violations nationwide.

Inspection authorities include the General Department of Land Management and the Departments of Natural Resources and Environment in all cities and provinces.
