A new name to be added to the list of the richest stock millionaires is a businessman of the same generation as the Vietnamese first dollar billionaire Pham Nhat Vuong. He also started his business in Eastern Europe tens of years ago.

The HCM City Stock Exchange (HOSE) confirmed it has received the application for listing shares on the bourse from the Ba Na Service Cable Car Joint Stock Company, or Banacab (BNC).

The company, a subsidiary of SunGroup, plans to list 216.4 millions shares, worth VND2.164 trillion in face value.

As such, with 83 million BNC, accounting for 38.6 percent of the charter capital, Le Viet Lam has VND830 billion.

However, the value of the shares are much higher because the market price will be much higher than the face value thanks to its fame and high profit.

And the stock assets owned by Lam will be even higher as Lam’s Sun Group now holds 7 percent of BNC, while the ‘cable car King’ has also invested in many other huge projects.

While some tycoons have seen huge assets evaporate and others have been sent to prison, a lot of new faces have appeared on the scene. The pockets of the upstarts are believed to be full of trillions of dong.
The listing of Banacab will also reveal other billionaires whose assets are worth up to VND1 trillion. Manh Xuan Thuan, who now holds 73.6 million BNC, is one of them.

Manh Xuan Thuan, 1962, is an unfamiliar name in the stock market. However, he will become well known after the listing. Thuan is also the member of the boards of directors in many other companies, including Thoi Dai Trade & Media and Cu Lao Cham Trade, Tourism & Investment.

Prior to that, stock investors witnessed the emergence of Doan Hong Viet, president of Digiword (DGW). Viet now has hundreds of billion of dong worth of stocks since DGW began listing shares on the bourse one year ago.

The big shareholders of The Gioi Di Dong (MWG), including president Nguyen Duc Tai also caused big changes to the list of Vietnamese billionaires in 2015.

Tai has fallen on the list of top 10 stock millionaires, standing above famous names such as Truong Gia Binh, Ho Hung Anh, Tran Kim Thanh and Dang Thanh Tam.

Trinh Van Quyet from Faros (ROS), a construction firm, has also unexpectedly seen its assets increase sharply by trillions of dong to VND5.2 trillion after Faros entered the bourse in September.

Meanwhile, Tran Ba Duong remains a hidden billionaire. The strong rise of Truong Hai Automobile’s shares in recent months could make Duong one of the richest stock millionaires if Duong lists Truong Hai’s shares on the bourse.
