The Miss International 2024 finale witnessed an emotional moment as Vietnam's representative, Huynh Thi Thanh Thuy, surpassed her fellow contestants to win the prestigious crown. When Thanh Thuy’s name was announced, she couldn’t hold back her tears on stage.
Moments after her win, still overwhelmed with emotion, Thanh Thuy asked Pham Kim Dung, the President of Miss International Vietnam, "Where are my parents?"
In this incredibly significant moment, Thanh Thuy’s first thought was for her family, and Mrs. Kim Dung pointed out her parents’ seats, where they had been watching her closely during the finale.
Pham Kim Dung, who had accompanied Thanh Thuy throughout her preparation journey, was also in the backstage area to share in the joy with the newly crowned Miss International. When they met, Thanh Thuy cheerfully talked and joked about her proud accomplishment before quickly leaving with the runners-up to continue the evening’s activities organized by the event committee.
Miss International's Communications Director, Stephen Diaz, couldn’t hide his excitement either, embracing Pham Kim Dung to congratulate Vietnam’s victory. This was a memorable moment not only for Thanh Thuy but also for Vietnamese pageantry.
With her Miss International 2024 crown, Huynh Thi Thanh Thuy officially becomes the first Miss International titleholder from Vietnam. She will now take on a new responsibility and mission, serving as both a representative of Vietnam and a role model to inspire women around the world.
As of this moment, Vietnam has three titleholders from the world's six largest beauty pageants: Phuong Khanh (Miss Earth 2018), Thuy Tien (Miss Grand International 2021), and Huynh Thi Thanh Thuy (Miss International 2024).
