Following over three hours of competition, Vietnam's beauty, Huynh Thi Thanh Thuy, outshone 75 other contestants to claim the Miss International 2024 title.
The 22-year-old Miss International 2024 titleholder is 1.76 meters tall and boasts impressive measurements of 80-63-94 cm. Currently, Thanh Thuy is studying at two institutions: Da Nang University of Foreign Language Studies and Greenwich Vietnam University. She speaks English and Korean. Her meticulous preparation and confident demeanor made her a strong candidate from the start of the competition.
The first, second, third, and fourth runner-up titles went to Bolivia (Camila Roca), Spain (Charlotte Harrison), Venezuela (Sakra Guerrero), and Indonesia (Sophie Kirana), respectively.
The Top 8 contestants were: Bolivia (Camila Roca), Indonesia (Sophie Kirana), Czech Republic (Alina Dementjeva), Venezuela (Sakra Guerrero), Poland (Ewa Jakubiec), New Zealand (Samantha Poole), Vietnam (Huynh Thi Thanh Thuy), and Spain (Charlotte Harrison).
Thanh Thuy faced a challenging question on education: “What is the most important global development that has impacted the education system of your generation?”
She responded, “To me, it was the emergence of a global education system during the Covid-19 pandemic. Due to Covid-19, we had to stay home and study online, which created an opportunity for educational development. I hope that students will have more chances to explore and learn through education. This aligns with Sustainable Development Goal No. 4 – Quality Education.”
In the Q&A, Bolivia’s representative spoke on sustainability, viewing it as a symbol of hope and prosperity and emphasizing the importance of leaving a positive legacy through empathy and purposeful living.
Miss Indonesia highlighted mindset as the biggest barrier to gender equality, urging young people to recognize and support shared values for equal opportunities.
Miss Czech Republic chose to admire Ursula von der Leyen, the first woman to head the European Commission, for her leadership in sustainability and inspiration to others.
On technology, Venezuela’s representative saw artificial intelligence as a valuable tool, cautioning the need to balance it with the human element.
Poland’s contestant emphasized that a good leader requires empathy as well as vision, praising Kamala Harris as an example of female leadership.
Addressing climate change, Miss New Zealand described it as the greatest environmental challenge, calling for change toward a sustainable future.
Finally, Miss Spain stressed the importance of equality in education and social welfare to reduce poverty, especially in supporting the rights and opportunities of women globally.
The Top 20 contestants included representatives from Cape Verde (Akysanna Veiga), Venezuela (Sakra Guerrero), Indonesia (Sophie Kirana), Ireland (Hannah-Kathleen Hawkshaw), Cuba (Shelbi Byrnes Garcia), New Zealand (Samantha Poole), Taiwan (Oceana Lin-Kurie), South Africa (Belindé Schreuder), Australia (Selina McCloskey), Dominican Republic (Miyuki Cruz), Japan (Mei Ueda), Poland (Ewa Jakubiec), Czech Republic (Alina Dementjeva), Spain (Charlotte Harrison), South Sudan (Amylia Deng), Vietnam (Huynh Thi Thanh Thuy), Honduras (April Tobie), Mongolia (Bayaraa Suvd-erdene), Bolivia (Camila Roca), and Nigeria (Perpetual Ukadike).
Three representatives won the People's Choice award in each region, securing their place in the Top 20: Nigeria (Europe-Africa), Dominican Republic (Americas), and Japan (Asia-Pacific).
In the swimsuit segment, the Top 20 contestants confidently showcased their figures in bold red one-piece swimsuits, displaying their elegance and stage presence.
Vietnam’s representative drew attention with her sleek updo hairstyle, accentuating her delicate facial features and enviable physique. Standing at 1.76 meters with balanced proportions, she confidently walked the stage.
In the evening gown segment, the 20 contestants selected elegant designs in soft colors, mostly opting for form-fitting mermaid-style dresses that highlighted their curves with tasteful detail.
Vietnam’s representative stunned in a creation by designer Le Thanh Hoa, a white off-the-shoulder gown with intricate beading that gracefully accentuated her balanced figure and fair skin, exuding elegance and charm.
Four contestants earned "Continental Queen" titles: Cape Verde (Africa), Cuba (Americas), Japan (Asia), and Ireland (Europe).
