On April 2, Tran Dai Quang was sworn in as President of Vietnam after 91.5 percent of the total National Assembly (NA) deputies elected him to the position by secret ballot during the 11th session of the 13th National Assembly.

Prime Minister Nguyen Xuan Phuc has also received congratulatory messages from his counterparts from India, Malaysia, Rumania, Finland, and Bhutan on his new position.

Newly-elected National Assembly Chairwoman Nguyen Thi Kim Ngan have been congratulated by Speaker of the Finnish Parliament Maria Lohela.

Congratulations to newly-elected leaders of Laos

President Tran Dai Quang sent congratulatory messages to Laos’ newly-elected President Bounnhang Vorachit on April 20.

Prime Minister Nguyen Xuan Phuc, National Assembly Chairwoman Nguyen Thi Kim Ngan, and Vice President Dang Thi Ngoc Thinh also extended congratulations to their newly-elected Lao counterparts Thongloun Sisoulith, Pany Yathotu, and Phankham Viphavan, respectively.

The Lao leaders were elected to the positions at the first session of the 8th National Assembly of Laos which opened in Vientiane on April 20.

In their messages, the Vietnamese leaders expressed their belief that under the leadership of the new leaders, the Lao people will successfully implement the Resolution of the 10th Congress of the Lao People’s Revolutionary Party and the country’s Socio-economic Plan in 2016-2020, thus promoting industrialisation and modernisations, and increasing the position of the nation in the international arena.

The Vietnamese leaders affirmed that they will continue working closely with the Lao counterparts in further strengthening and deepening the traditional friendship, special solidarity and comprehensive cooperation between the two countries, for the interest of both peoples, and for peace, stability, cooperation and development in the region and the world.

The same day, Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Pham Binh Minh sent his congratulations to the new Foreign Minister of Laos, Salomsay Commasith.

Party leader congratulates Cuban counterpart

Party General Secretary Nguyen Phu Trong has extended his warmest greetings to Raul Castro on his re-election as First Secretary of the Communist Party of Cuba (CPC)’s Central Committee.

In his message, Nguyen Phu Trong congratulated the CPC on the success of the seventh Party Congress and said he firmly believes that in the light of the Party Congress’s Resolution and under the sound leadership of the CPC led by Raul Castro, the fraternal Cuban people will overcome difficulties and challenges and reap greater victories in the national construction and defence, toward the goal of building a prosperous and sustainable socialism.

On the occasion, he once again reaffirmed the Vietnamese Party, State and people’s wish and determination to further strengthen and deepen the model fraternal ties, traditional friendship, comprehensive cooperation and loyal solidarity between the two Parties, States and peoples.
