Colonel To Van Hau on April 5 said the suspects have been identified as Lin Thi Tuyen, aged 42 of Chieu Luu commune, and Moong Van Long, aged 43 of Khe Ty village in Huu Kiem commune.

The origins of the case dates back to May 2009 when Tuyen asked Long to look for young girls in their village to kidnap and sell in China.

Long went on to trick a 9-year-old girl, whose father had died and mother had remarried with a Chinese man.

Long told the girl that he was bringing her to China in order to meet her mother.

Three days later, Long handed the victim over to Tuyen. The human trafficker went on to sell the girl to a Vietnamese woman who was living in China for VND25 million. When Tuyen returned to Vietnam he gave Long VND20 million as part of the deal.

The girl was then forced to marry a Chinese man. It was only earlier this year that she managed to escape and was able to report the incident to the police.

Ky Son police started legal proceedings against the two people on human trafficking charges.
