On the morning of April 8, continuing the agenda of the first session of the 16th National Assembly, lawmakers conducted a secret ballot to approve the appointment of Deputy Prime Ministers, ministers and other members of the Government, including the Minister of Ethnic and Religious Affairs.

The National Assembly then passed a resolution ratifying the Prime Minister’s nominations for Deputy Prime Ministers, ministers and other government members. Among them, Nguyen Dinh Khang, Standing Deputy Minister of Ethnic and Religious Affairs, was confirmed as Minister of Ethnic and Religious Affairs for the 2026-2031 term.

Mr. Khang was born in 1967 in Bac Ninh province. He holds a master’s degree in economic management and is a member of the Party Central Committee for the 12th, 13th and 14th terms. He is also a deputy of the 15th National Assembly.

He began his career in accounting at Ha Bac Fertilizer and Chemicals Company and later served as Chairman of Materials and Chemical Import-Export Company Limited, a board member of the parent company - Vietnam National Chemical Group, and Deputy Secretary of the group’s Party Committee.

He subsequently spent many years working in local administrations, holding positions including Deputy Secretary of the Ha Giang Provincial Party Committee and Secretary of the Ha Nam Provincial Party Committee.

In July 2019, he was appointed Secretary of the Party Delegation and President of the Vietnam General Confederation of Labor, and was later elected to serve as its President.

In July 2025, he took on an additional role as Vice President of the Central Committee of the Vietnam Fatherland Front.

On March 2, 2026, Nguyen Dinh Khang was assigned and appointed as Standing Deputy Minister of Ethnic and Religious Affairs.
