The announcement was made on March 2 at a conference held by the Vietnam General Confederation of Labor. Nguyen Thanh Binh, Deputy Head of the Party Central Committee’s Organization Commission, presented the Politburo’s decision on personnel matters.

At its meeting on February 27, the Politburo agreed to relieve Nguyen Dinh Khang, a member of the Party Central Committee, of his positions within the Vietnam Fatherland Front and mass organizations. He also stepped down as Vice President of the Vietnam Fatherland Front Central Committee, Secretary of the Party Committee and President of the Vietnam General Confederation of Labor.

He has been reassigned, appointed and designated as Standing Deputy Minister of Ethnic and Religious Affairs. Additionally, he was appointed to the Executive Committee and Standing Board and designated as Standing Deputy Secretary of the Party Committee of the Ministry of Ethnic and Religious Affairs for the 2025–2030 term.

Born in 1967 in Bac Ninh province, Nguyen Dinh Khang holds a master’s degree in economic management. He is a member of the Party Central Committee for the 12th, 13th and 14th tenures and a deputy to the 15th National Assembly.

He began his career in accounting at Ha Bac Fertilizer and Chemicals Company and later served as Chairman of the One-Member Limited Liability Company for Chemical Materials and Import-Export, as well as a member of the Board of Directors of Vietnam National Chemical Group and Deputy Secretary of its Party Committee.

He subsequently held several local leadership positions, including Deputy Secretary of the former Ha Giang Provincial Party Committee and Secretary of the former Ha Nam Provincial Party Committee.

In July 2019, he became Secretary of the Party Delegation and President of the Vietnam General Confederation of Labor, and was later elected President of the organization. In July 2025, he also assumed the role of Vice President of the Vietnam Fatherland Front Central Committee.

The Ministry of Ethnic and Religious Affairs currently has five deputy ministers: Nguyen Dinh Khang (Standing Deputy Minister), Y Vinh Tor, Y Thong, Nong Thi Ha and Nguyen Hai Trung.
