Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh has officially appointed Nguyen Duc Tam, who was previously the Director General of the General Department of National Economic Synthesis, as the new Deputy Minister of Planning and Investment.

Mr. Nguyen Duc Tam, formerly serving as the Director General of the Department of Local and Regional Economy, was transferred to his recent position in April 2023. Since then, he has been overseeing the comprehensive economic planning initiatives at the Ministry of Planning and Investment (MPI).

Nguyen Chi Dung remains the Minister of Planning and Investment, and the MPI currently has four Deputy Ministers: Tran Quoc Phuong, Nguyen Thi Bich Ngoc, Do Thanh Trung, and Nguyen Duc Tam.

In another decision, Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh has appointed Deputy Prime Minister Ho Duc Phoc as the Head of the Anti-Money Laundering Steering Committee.

The Anti-Money Laundering Steering Committee has the primary role of assisting the Prime Minister in formulating strategies, policies, programs, and plans related to anti-money laundering. It will coordinate, direct, and oversee the nation’s efforts to combat money laundering activities.

Additionally, the committee will help guide Vietnam in fulfilling its international obligations as a member of the Asia/Pacific Group on Money Laundering (APG). The focus will be on progressing towards full compliance with the 40 recommendations set by the Financial Action Task Force (FATF) on anti-money laundering.
