During the 8th extraordinary session on August 26, the National Assembly carried out procedures to fill several key leadership positions, culminating in the approval of three new Deputy Prime Ministers.
The approval process involved a secret ballot conducted by National Assembly members. Following the completion of the necessary steps, the Assembly discussed and voted to pass the resolution endorsing the Prime Minister's nomination of the three individuals for the Deputy Prime Minister positions.
The newly appointed Deputy Prime Ministers - Nguyen Hoa Binh, a member of the Politburo and Secretary of the Party Central Committee; Ho Duc Phoc, a member of the Party Central Committee and Minister of Finance; and Bui Thanh Son, a member of the Party Central Committee and Minister of Foreign Affairs - received unanimous approval from all 432 delegates present.
With these appointments, the Government's leadership now consists of Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh and five Deputy Prime Ministers: Tran Hong Ha, Le Thanh Long, Nguyen Hoa Binh, Ho Duc Phoc, and Bui Thanh Son.
Nguyen Hoa Binh was born on May 4, 1958, in Hanh Duc Commune, Nghia Hanh District, Quang Ngai Province. He holds a Ph.D. in Law and has an extensive career in law enforcement and judicial administration. Since April 2016, he has served as the Chief Justice of the Supreme People's Court, a position he held until his recent appointment as Deputy Prime Minister.
Ho Duc Phoc was born on November 1, 1963, in Quynh Thach Commune, Quynh Luu District, Nghe An Province. He has a Ph.D. in Economics and has held several leadership roles, including Chairman of the Nghe An Provincial People's Committee and Secretary of the Nghe An Provincial Party Committee. He has served as the Minister of Finance since April 2021.
Bui Thanh Son was born on October 16, 1962, in Tay Mo Ward, Nam Tu Liem District, Hanoi. He holds a Master's degree in International Relations and has had a distinguished career in diplomacy. He has served as the Minister of Foreign Affairs since April 2021, following a long tenure in various diplomatic roles, including Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs and Permanent Deputy Minister.
