Addressing the ceremony, Deputy PM Dam praised the constant efforts made the Hanoi VNU in the cause of radical and comprehensive renovation of education and training, adding that the university has actively made reforms and taken the initial steps in enhancing the quality of education and training in Vietnam, particularly its establishment of an accreditation model for the training quality at universities and renovation of the entrance examination method by competency assessment.

The Hanoi VNU needs to take a pivotal role in spreading new models and methods across the entire educational system, Dam said, expressing his wish that the university would uphold its leading role in university administration mechanisms with the highest spirit of autonomy.

The deputy PM asked the Hanoi VNU to continue accelerating scientific research among its staff of officials, lecturers and students in order to increase the quantity and quality of the scientific research works published in the world’s leading scientific journals.

He said he hoped that VNU President Nguyen Kim Son and the university’s officials, lecturers and students would exert greater efforts to fulfill the envisaged goals.

As Son’s predecessor, Minister of Education and Training Phung Xuan Nha also voiced his belief that with his capabilities of leadership and management, experience and comprehension of the Hanoi VNU, Son, together with the university’s officials, lecturers and students, would effectively implement the Hanoi VNU development strategy till 2020, with a vision to 2030.
