Nguyen Tien Minh continued to play exceptionally well at the SkyCity New Zealand badminton tournament on March 25 in Auckland City.

The ninth seed came from behind to beat twelfth seed Qiao Bin of China 17- 21, 21-17, 21-14 in the quarter-finals of the men’s singles event.

The Vietnamese play will next meet Japan’s Riichi Takeshita in the semi-finals.

Takeshita earlier made a great start by beating third seed Lee Dong Keun of South Korea 21-16, 17-21, 21-8.

The other semi-final match will see No 13 seed Huang Yuxing of China versus No 16 seed Teck Zhi Doo of Malaysia who beat Chinese Shi Yuqi 11-21, 22-20, 21-14.
