Although “The House of No Man” has been out for nearly a month, it is still a controversial topic in the media and social networks. It continues to pull audiences into cinemas and set new records.

Director Tran Thanh announced on his personal page with 19 million followers that his movie has earned VND 434 billion (over US$18 million), surpassing “Dad, I’m Sorry” (another Thanh product), to become the Vietnamese film with the highest revenue so far.

The film is still at cinemas and audiences remain interested in the movie.

The total revenue of two films directed and produced by Tran Thanh, who also stars in the film, tops the list of 10 Vietnamese films with the highest revenue at the box office, with VND 861 billion.

“The House of No Man” revolves around a family of three generations living under the same roof, and the trials and tribulations such families face. It features People’s Artists Ngoc Giau and Viet Anh, Uyen An and Song Luan.

Thanh rose to fame as producer with his debut movie and smash hit Bo Gia (Dad, I’m Sorry) in 2021, directed by Vu Ngoc Dang, which broke box-office records for Vietnamese films by earning 400 billion VND (16.04 million USD).

The film was also sold to Malaysia, Singapore, the US, and Australia. At the annual Vietnam Film Festival, it won the Silver Lotus Award for Best Feature Film and for Best Actor, Best Supporting Actress and Best Screenplay.

The Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism chose the film as the Vietnamese entry for the Best Foreign Language Film Category at the 2022 Oscar Awards.
