A landslide in the northern mountainous province of Hoa Binh has buried eight local households, causing nine deaths, while 10 others have been left trapped.

The rescue work is underway to save the remaining people



The houses which locate in Phu Cuong Commune, Tan Lac District were buried by half of a nearby hill early on Thursday morning.  

The size of the landslide is making rescue work quite difficult. The rescue forces also found five dead buffaloes.

Around 5 am on October 12, five dead people were evacuated from the debris and two hours later, the figure increased to nine.   

Tran Van Tiep, director of Hoa Binh Province’s Agriculture and Rural Development Department, the victims are from four local families.

Meanwhile, flash floods have also ruined two houses in Thanh Hoa Province’s Thuong Xuan District, leaving three dead.
