The People’s Court of Phan Rang – Thap Cham city in the south central province of Ninh Thuan on August 22 opened the first instance hearing against six people on the charge of disturbing public order in the city on June 10-11.

The defendants are Nguyen Van Nghia (born in 1989), Nguyen Thi Nhu Hoa (born in 1975), Nguyen Huu Thanh (born in 1991), Nguyen Thi Lung (born in 1978), Nguyen Doan Phuoc My (born in 2002), and Truong Thanh Kiet (born in 2002), all residing in Ninh Thuan.
The jury sentenced Nghia to two years in jail, Hoa nine months, Thanh eight months, and Lung 12 months on the charge of causing public disturbance as stipulated in the 2015 Penal Code, while My and Kiet were given five- and six-month suspended sentences, respectively, for the same charge as they are under 18 years old.
According to the indictment, Nghia, Hoa, Thanh and Lung incited people to block National Highway 1A on June 10-11, causing traffic jams on an extensive scale.
Kiet and My along with a group of other people used motorbikes to assault on-duty police.
They also gathered at the headquarters of Phuoc My police station and threw stones, breaking many windows.
The local investigation agency and police are expanding investigation to catch others involving in the case.-VNA
