With his 40-year experience in planting grapes, Mr. Ba Moi has greatly contributed to the brand name of wine grape in Ninh Thuan province. He grows both edible and wine grapes and develops a closed chain from garden to table.
Besides Ba Moi’s firm, hundreds of local cooperatives also join the supply chain of wine grapes. However, the supply could only meet local demand.
Technically, Ninh Thuan province is capable of growing 8,000 hectares of grapes. Now the total area of grape cultivation in the province is over 1,200 hectares, with only 5% wine grapes. The province aims to expand the grape cultivation area to 2,000 hectares in 2025 and 3,000 in 2030.
During the recent Grape and Wine Festival that ran in Ninh Thuan from April 26 to May 2, the wine grape is promoted with a view to boosting the production of grape and grape products in the province, including wine. The event has drawn 120,000 visitors from April 26 to May 1, three times higher than the same time last year.-VNA
