Recent speculation on social media suggested that civil servants, public employees, and workers could enjoy a continuous nine-day break in 2026 by rearranging working days.
Responding to the claims on April 10, the ministry stated there is no plan to adjust the official holiday schedule, nor any proposal to swap working days to extend the break.
Authorities emphasized that all ministries, sectors, and localities should continue implementing the holiday calendar in line with current regulations, while also ensuring clear communication to avoid public misunderstanding.
Earlier, on April 9, the Vietnam General Confederation of Labour released the results of a survey seeking opinions from union members, civil servants, and workers regarding a possible adjustment to the holiday schedule.
The survey, conducted from April 8, gathered more than 70,000 responses by 7am on April 9. Around 62 percent of respondents supported the idea of swapping days off to create a longer holiday, including 47.04 percent who expressed strong support and 14.82 percent who said they were in favor.
Many respondents believed that extending the holiday would allow workers more time to rest, recover, and better take care of their families.
