Love testing has become one of the most wanted services by youth. On TikTok, one can find hundreds of videos with the keyword “#test nguoi yeu’ (testing lovers), each of which attracts tens to hundreds of thousands of viewers.
Many ‘test nguoi yeu’ groups of thousands of members have also appeared on Facebook, which shows demand from women to test the faithfulness of their lovers.
Vu Thuy Ngoc, 27, in Hoang Mai district, Hanoi, is now in the fifth month of her pregnancy. She wants to find out if her husband has used call girls during that time. The service provider, a young girl, told her that she would have to pay VND150,000 for the service.
“I could not find anything unusual from my husband when we were in relationship and after the wedding. However, I’m afraid that he may cheat on me because we have less sex during the pregnancy,” she explained.
Ngoc’s husband is a bank officer who has many social relationships. After two days, the ‘tester’ told her that her husband was loyal and he refused to communicate with the girl, though she tried to flirt with him, saying that he didn’t want to spend money on pointless relations.
However, on the third day, the man answered the sweet flirting words spoken by the girl and spent time on a long conversation. He said he was still single and agreed to meet the girl if he had free time.
Ngoc felt sad when hearing this from the service provider.
After celebrating her 25th birthday with her boyfriend, Ngoc Mai in Nam Dinh City decided to use the special service to discover her boyfriend’s feelings towards her before she made decision on whether to marry him.
Mai’s parents run two profitable shops and she has good financial conditions, so Mai is the crush of many local young men. She enjoyed the birthday party organized by her boyfriend and was touched by his care. However, Mai still wanted to know if the man really loves her.
“My boyfriend lives in the same locality, and I heard that he once did something wrong with his ex-girlfriend. I still want to test him,” she explained.
And the testing service gave the answer she wanted: the man told the ‘tester’, a very beautiful and warm girl, that he was going to get married and had no demand for another girl.
Meanwhile, Thu Huong, 23, decided to break up with her boyfriend after a test.
“If I had not used the service, I would have never known. He was ready to have one night stands with unfamiliar girls,” Huong said, adding that she did not regret the VND200,000 she had to pay for the service.
Vietnamese women tend to think that all men have extramarital relations. However, this is not true.
“I have met a lot of men who said they had girlfriends or wives and did not want to chat with strangers,” said Ngoc Linh, a ‘tester’.
“Other men told me that they never fall into the traps on social networks. They refused to communicate with me and blocked my phone number,” she said.
The beautiful young girl said within three summer months, she tested nearly 60 men. She showed sexy images to the men and asked for a new relationship. As Linh is a linguistic major, she is good at communication.
In general, Linh charged VND50,000-90,000 for each case of testing boyfriends, and VND130,000-150,000 for testing husbands.
In general, ‘testers’ contact the targeted boyfriends and husbands, chat with them, send messages, and invite them to café or to hotels. Meanwhile, the boyfriends or husbands being tested will fail the test if they say they are single and agree to go out with testers,
However, some psychologists have voiced concern about the presence of this odd job, saying that it will do more harm than good. Tested husbands and boyfriends may feel hurt and break up their relationship if they discover that they are being tested.
"In general, I guess this service targets women who are desperate and have to struggle with doubts and try to retain their relationship,” said Vu Nguyet Anh, an expert, CEO of Rudicaf. “In other cases, people just want to try for fun."
