The Hanoi Marathon Heritage Race is a major marathon which has been held annually in October in the capital to mark its Liberation Day (October 10, 1954). Originally beginning in 2018, the competition has attracted professional and amateur runners, both foreign and Vietnamese, thanks to its unique course that runs through the Old Quarter of the city.
Total prizes are up to VND703 million, with the winners in both the men and women categories receiving VND60 million each.
The finishing times for any race in the system are recognised as qualifying conditions for the world's six most prestigious marathons, namely the New York Marathon, the Chicago Marathon, the London Marathon, the Boston Marathon, the Tokyo Marathon, and the Berlin Marathon.
