An out of season  heavy rain pelted HCMC late afternoon yesterday flooding a slew of streets in many districts including Districts 6, 7, Tan Phu, Binh Tan and others. 

Heavy flooding occurred in Nguyen Huu Canh street in Binh Thanh, Le Van Luong in Nha Be, Hong Bang and Nguyen Thi Nho in District 6 and 11, causing several engine failures. 

Mr. Dang Van Dung, deputy director of the Southern Hydro Meteorological Forecasting Center, said that the unseasonable rain would continue wetting the city in one or two days. 

At this time in previous years, the equatorial low pressure trough in the northern hemisphere had already moved to the southern hemisphere. However this year it still lingers now and combines with a cold front from the East Sea to trigger rains in the southern region.
