Chairman of the State Professor Title Council and Minister of Education and Training Phung Xuan Nha has signed Decision No.55/QD-HDCDGSNN to confer titles on 703 new professors and associate professors in 2016.

Of these, 65 educators are to be granted the title of professor, while 638 others will receive the title of associate professor. This year’s requirements for recognition were set higher to meet current demands and comply with international standards.

Among the new professors for 2016 were six female educators, including Vu Thi Thu Ha from the Vietnam Institute of Industrial Chemistry; retired teacher Nguyen Khanh Van; Le Thi Son from Hanoi Law University; retired teacher Le Thi Chieu; Le Thi Hoai Phuong from the Vietnam Institute of Culture and Arts Studies; and Bui Thi Thu Ha from Hanoi School of Public Health.

In 2016, Tran Dinh Thang, a lecturer at Vinh University and born in 1975, is the youngest professor, while 32-year-old Tran Xuan Bach of Hanoi Medical University is the youngest new associate professor.

The oldest educator to receive the title of professor this year is Le Thi Chieu, born in 1947, is a retired teacher in the metallurgy industry. Retired teacher Bui Manh Hung, who was born in 1950, is the oldest member to receive associate professor status.

Minister of Education and Training Phung Xuan Nha was also honoured with the Professor title.

The office of the State Professor Title Council also received two documents, which granted the Professor title in exceptional circumstances to Professor Bui Minh Phong from Eötvös Loránd University in Hungary and Professor Dao Van Lap from Swinburne University of Technology in Australia.
